Austin Ballroom Dancers (ABD) is a nonprofit, social organization completely dedicated
to teaching and hosting ballroom dancing. We sponsor dances, classes, and workshops
for people of all ages. [more]
Annual Meeting and Board Elections
On Saturday, June 15, ABD will hold its annual membership meeting and elections.
The meeting will be held at Go Dance before the Saturday night dance. Details
will be posted soon. There will not be a mini-lesson that night.
Four board positions are up for election this year: Vice President, Treasurer,
Membership, and Program Director. If you are interested in running for one of
these offices, please contact Mark Coughran at mark@austinballroomdancers.org.
If you have any questions, feel free to talk to any board member or one of the
members of the election committee -- Pat Whalen, Clarke Robertson or Mark Coughran.
You must be an ABD member to serve on the board. The duties of all offices can be
found in the Bylaws which are posted on the Official Business page of this website.
Update on Don
Our longtime instructor, Don McCollum, is home from the hospital after undergoing
successful heart surgery. He is much happier at home and is starting to get up
and walk around. We continue to wish him a speedy recovery and await his return
to classes.
In Don's absence, classes have continued as scheduled. Mark Moy is teaching
the Tuesday classes and David Cantu is teaching the Thursday classes.
We want to give a special thank you to Phyllis King for filling in until
the guest instructor clearances were obtained from the City of Austin.
Saturday Dances at Go Dance Studio
ABD Saturday night ballroom dances are held at
Go Dance Studio, 2525 West Anderson Lane,
Suite 530, in the Northcross Mall, the first and third Saturday of every month.
Enter near the Guitar Center.
Our dances are held from 7:30 to 11:00 P.M. starting with a 30-minute mini-lesson included in the
price of admission. You do not need a partner to attend. Please call the ABD Hotline at

Newcomers:
If you haven't taken our classes before, we'd love to offer you one evening
of classes FREE. When you come, just tell us you're a first timer. If you
aren't satisfied, there is no charge. If you want to continue, our prices are
the best in Austin!!
Beginning Dancers:
If you are a beginner, Cha Cha 1 is a good choice in the first
session and Rumba 1 is a good choice in the second session.
